Description

A direct sequel to 1988's "Shinobi", Shadow Dancer sees a young Ninja, named Hayate - together with his faithful pet dog, Yamato - battle against a terrorist group known as the "Asian Dawn". The Asian Dawn have planted a number of time bombs throughout the metropolis and Hayate and Yamato have courageously set out to gather up all the explosives placed by the evil gang and to annihilate the criminal mastermind behind the Asian Dawn.

Shadow Dancer is set twenty years after the original game and this time features Hayate, son of Shinobi's original hero, Joe Musashi. Gameplay is very similar to that of Shinobi's - it features the jumping-and-projectyle-weapons of its illustrious older brother - but, with the addition of the Hero's pet dog, gives the game a new attacking move. Pulling DOWN on the joystick down and pressing the ATTACK button sends the dog to attack the game's opponents. This will stop the enemy from attacking as he wrestles with the dog, but if the enemy is not killed quickly by the player - the dog will be killed. Upon the dog's death a small puppy appears. Once the player has killed a set number of enemies, the puppy will grow to be a full-sized dog and can once again be used to attack enemies.
